Organ Recital by ex Organist of St George’s Chapel, Windsor – Roger Judd

Roger Judd’s recital will be held on 1st October 2021 at 7.15pm.

Roger’s musical journey has taken him from being a chorister at Winchester Cathedral, via an organ scholarship at Pembroke College, Cambridge, to the organ lofts at Ely Cathedral, St Michael’s College, Tenbury Wells, and latterly St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle (from which he retired in 2008 after 23 years). In recognition of that work, Roger was honoured by HM The Queen with Membership of the Royal Victorian Order and in 2015 St Michael’s granted him the title of Organist Emeritus.

His work at Windsor involved accompanying the choir in services, radio and television broadcasts, recordings and concert tours and, of course, playing at the many services at which the Royal Family was present. For four terms he was acting Director of Music. He has a number of solo CDs to his credit under the Herald and Priory labels.

Now living near Hereford, Roger plays at St Laurence’s Ludlow as a Sub Organist and is acting Organist at St Michael’s, Tenbury. He is involved with the Diocese of Hereford Organists’ Training Scheme that helps village organists raise their game and for six years he was chairman of the Herefordshire Organists’ Society.  He has just taken on the role of organ adviser to the Diocese of Hereford.

Ticket price £15 per person (to include drinks and food in the interval). To book a ticket for this event please email or ring us using the contact details at the bottom of the page.
